Q Is the product of lesser quality than competitors more expensive versions?
A Only high quality materials are used, all of which comply to the relevant British Standard. The product has also been thoroughly tested to withstand the rigours of the worst of the UK weather.
Q Can the sizes be modified?
A No however there are a number of variations of sizes available in each style to suit most projects.
Q Do I have to apply for planning permission?
A Apart from the Isle of Man and Scotland, in most cases you will not need planning permission. We do however recommend that in all cases you check with your local planning office.
Q Are the Conservatories really a ‘do it yourself’ product?
A Yes, providing you are competent at D.I.Y. and you have assistance from someone with a similar level of ability. You should be able to assemble a conservatory following the instructions over a weekend.
Q What should it cost me to employ a builder to build a base and erect the conservatory?
A The cost depends on the size of the building and site conditions i.e. depth of foundations – however on average the base and installation should be between £2000 to £3000.
Q Can I have the French doors in any position?
A The alternative positions for the doors are indicated on the website and is important this is confirmed when ordering.
Q What if the parts are damaged whilst assembling, how soon can I have a replacement?
A 24 hours subject to payment by credit card.
Q The buildings are sold as PVC-U DIY Conservatories yet the roof sections and subcillare made from aluminium. Is this an incorrect sales term?
A The majority of DIY conservatories are supplied with aluminium roofs with PVC-U cladding profiles to ensure the structural stability of the complete building. We supply aluminium
cills as a secure base fixing is essential and aluminium offers a stronger solution than PVC-U. The name ‘PVC’ is generic and simply refers to the material used for the panels and doors.
Q Are the panels and doors glazed with safety glass?
A Yes, all double glazed units are manufactured from toughened glass and carry the appropriate marking.
Q Can I glass the roof?
A No, all roofs have opal multiwall polycarbonate panels as standard.
Q Does the 10 year guarantee cover anything?
A The guarantee is comprehensive and will be honoured provided the DIY conservatory has been erected in accordance with the fitting instructions and maintained in accordance with the warranty conditions.
Q Does it matter if my base is an inch or two out?
A A correctly built base is essential if the building is to be assembled satisfactorily. Only normal brickwork building tolerances should be allowed.
Q Will my DIY conservatory be totally secure?
A No building can be guaranteed as burglar proof, however each sash is fitted with multi point locking system, as is the French door. The glass is held in place with high security double sided tape to prevent removal of units. All steps have been taken to dissuade a would be intruder.
Q What if I want to alter a standard product myself to suit my house?
A Alterations are not recommended and if undertaken your guarantee will be deemed nul and void.
Q Can I have more than one pair of French doors?
A The standard conservatories are either supplied with a single door or a set French doors. It is possible to add additional single and French doors to a number of conservatories. Please contact us for further information.
Q What is the difference between the managers special and designer range of conservatories?
A The managers special range of conservatories is limited in size and available options and comes with two opening vents as standard. The designer range has more conservatory styles, more standard features, opening top vents to all panels and many more additional options. If an option isn't show on the conservatory designer then please contact us as we may be able to supply your requirements.
Q Do you post brochures?
A We have created an online brochure instead of producing hard copy versions. This allows us to pass on the cost savings to you, and is reflected in our highly competitive prices.
Q How much does delivery cost?
A Delivery to mainland UK is free of charge.
Q Should I build the conservatory myself or employ a builder?
A For a competent DIY'er diy2go.com would recommend that you complete the project yourself. It will be more rewarding and will save you a substantial amount of money, but if there are minor parts such as the base construction, which you don't feel happy with then you can always subcontract that specific part of the construction. Doing it this way means that you are in total control of the project. It also means you can take the time to ensure that your conservatory is built exactly how you want it. Doing it yourself brings a lot of personal satisfaction too!.
Q If I want to employ a builder to complete part or even all of the project do diy2go.com recommend anybody?
A We do not currently recommend a specific builder. We do however suggest that you take time to choose your builder. Make sure that they have the right skills, experience and reputation.
